There are only a few days left until the Cultifort Clementina Precoz mandarin harvest begins. In this article, we describe the main characteristics of our clementine, discovered in Pego in 1998, from a mutation of oronules.

The most interesting features of the Cultifort Early Clementine are:

  • EARLIER THAN ORONULES
  • DOES NOT DEVELOP MULTI-BUD GILLS
  • VIGOROUS TREE
  • QUICK ENTRY INTO PRODUCTION
  • GREAT ADAPTATION TO DIFFERENT PATTERNS
  • FRUIT OF EXCELLENT QUALITY

CULTIFORT EARLY CLEMENTINE

The Cultifort Clementina Precoz is notable for its precocity, ripening between September 15 and October 20, depending on the annual weather. This harvest date allows for good sales prices.

WITHOUT MULTI-YOLK DEVELOPMENT

One of the notable advantages of the Cultifort Clementina Precoz variety is that its trunk and branches do not show bulges with multiple buds, as occurs with other Oronules mutations (Figure 2). The great vigor of the Cultifort Clementina Precoz is due to the fact that it does not develop these multi-bud galls, which hinder sap circulation and prevent the tree from developing.

Although its development is rapid, Cultifort recommends harvesting the fruit from the first two years, so that the tree develops properly and you can obtain satisfactory yields from the third year onwards.

GREAT AROMA AND FLAVOR

The fruit of the Cultifort Clementina Precoz is similar to that of Oronules, presenting excellent organoleptic and ripening qualities, as well as good degreening performance.

It has a flattened shape, with a bright, uniform color and no seeds, and offers a high percentage of juice.

In the 2017 campaign, the extra-early mandarin Cultifort Clementina Precoz obtained a production of up to 70 kg/tree on trees between 3 and 5 years old, with an average price of 65 cents/kg and, in some cases, even up to 75 cents/kg.
